We very much welcome the decision made by the Government to allow pubs and restaurants in England to reopen on the 4th July with the distancing guidelines being reduced from two metres to 'one metre plus’. We’ve been working hard behind the scenes ensuring that we can open our doors again in the safest way possible - keeping our guests and teams safe is our number one priority.

  • When booking tables, there is no maximum number of people you can book for. However, indoor tables should have a maximum of two households/support bubbles. Outdoor tables should have a maximum of two households/support bubbles OR any number of households with a maximum of 6 people.

  • We have removed tables inside to ensure all our tables are at least 1.5m apart. Please leave tables and chairs where they have been placed.

  • We have built a new heated & waterproof outdoor patio area, which can seat 60 people under the sun, or 30 when it rains (following the government guidelines).

  • We also have a heated marquee, seating 25-30 people.

  • We also have 20 other garden benches dotted around our lovely garden.

  • Following the guidance on Track & Trace, contact details of all our guests will be taken.

  • Table service only

  • Single-use menus.

  • No vertical drinking inside.

  • Hand sanitiser will be freely available around the indoor and outdoor areas.

  • All frequently touched points will be sanitised regularly.

  • Toilets will be operating a ‘one in, one out’ system. Alongside being sanitised regularly.

You may notice things are a little different when you visit us; we will be updating our website and social media regularly to keep you up to speed on the changes we have made to ensure you and our teams are kept safe. What we can promise is that we will continue to deliver excellent food, drinks and service to ensure you have a great and memorable time with us. In advance of reopening, a comprehensive review of pub operations has taken place – The Black Horse COVID-19 Secure Operating Plan has been developed, together with risk-assessments.

Operating safely in a COVID-19 environment is essentially a matter of trying to eliminate the risk of transmission of the virus and, where that is not possible, introducing mitigating measures – for the safety of employees & guests.

We can’t wait to safely welcome all our old and new friends back into The Black Horse.
