Taking on the Black Horse in Standlake in 2019, started our passion for all things pubs. Full of character, this 16th century quaint corner of the Oxfordshire countryside is truly a place to treasure. Throughout the winter we have roaring fireplaces, festive activities, alongside offering the finest ales and hearty warm dishes. Beamed ceilings and a rich solid oak bar, offering tradition at its finest.

Alfresco dining in the warmer months on our pergola or in the garden, surrounded by our vegetable patch, roaring pizza oven and the songs of birds, a real slice of paradise, no better way to spend the day. We frequently host local live band sessions on Fridays and at weekends, for all to enjoy and using the freshest produce to create outstanding dishes. Quality is at the heart of everything we do.
You are able to book an outside table online for a guaranteed space, however if you have been walking or if you fancy popping down for a refreshing pint and watching the sunset, there are normally tables that we would be delighted to accommodate you on.

The Black Horse started life at least 370 years ago built as an Inn for William Miles, a retired soldier, and his wife Susanah and reputedly once owned by Lincoln College, University of Oxford. It was later converted into a traditional Cotswolds pub and, to this day, remains the heart of the village.
Since taking on the Black Horse in 2019, we have expanded both the interior and the exterior, increasing the popularity of the pub into a destination gastropub serving great food.

In the depths of December 2021, we purchased a 15 bed, 16th-century coaching inn located in Farringdon's village centre. This elegant new venture with an original cobbled courtyard bar and traditional restaurant is the next step in creating a replica of our ethos.
Classy countryside venues, great atmosphere creating life long memories.
In the middle of lockdown 2020, we were busy supporting the local community running errands for the vulnerable, making food parcel drops and running a market once a week for the villagers. In addition to lockdown errands, we acquired a second pub in the middle of 2020. The Waggon and Horses in Southmoor we have converted this site into the hub of the community, offering great food and drinks. Creating The Westbrook Pub Company.
