Our award-winning executive head chef, Martin Sherriff, is classically French trained with a contemporary twist to his cooking. Known for his approach to game, fish, local Cotswold and foraged ingredients. 

Martin presents modern British seasonal cuisine influenced by French cooking techniques and an appreciation of the best quality ingredients available.

Unwind in a traditional English pub

The Black Horse started life at least 350 years ago built as an inn for William Miles, a retired soldier, and his wife Susanah and reputedly once owned by Lincoln College, University of Oxford. It was later converted into a traditional Cotswolds pub and, to this day, remains the heart of the village and a great place to while away a few hours. 

No matter whether you’re looking for somewhere to sup a pint of real ale or sip a glass of wine, champagne or gin after a walk in the Cotswolds countryside; or just popping in for a pint on a sunny afternoon, a hearty welcome from the team at The Black Horse is guaranteed.
